Cam’s inspiration to create fuzzy plushie fashion sparked in 2019 when he attended the Basscoast Music Festival in Merritt, Canada. He enlisted as a therapist in “The Babe’s Spa” offering his special brand shiatsu massage and professional bodywork to festival goers. It was his first immersion in electronic dance music culture— at age 41.

After helping assemble the “Spa” along the banks of the Coldwater River he then watched festival roll past from his treatment spot. Whilst he was working, he a front row seat to witness the amazing costumes and elaborate festival attire as people strolled past the Spa. Cam was totally impressed and inspired by the creativity and sexiness of it all. Having brought only a couple pairs of shorts and T-shirts to the festival, he realized he was hugely underprepared and yearned to have a greater impact on those around him. It begged the question… 

“WOW!… WHAT COULD I BE IN ALL OF THIS???”

Then, after a few days into the festival, in the wee hours of July 13th, 2019, an epiphany struck… the idea for the first Cam Gogh was born. Sparked by  an unwavering desire to create his own fashion, a passion for human connection, and craving for something extra funky, his ideas were alchemized by his experience sharing energy through bodywork and experiencing the EDM music. This joy was transmuted into something amazing in his imagination.

Knowing precisely what he wanted to create, he got to work as soon as he got home… 

Then exactly two weeks later at the Shambhala Music Festival in Salmo Canada, (as seen in this image), the Camgogh pants were unveiled. Although rudimentary and eclectic - his vision had come to life. With the help of his artist friend and mentor: Dave Petko, Cam created his first piece of wearable art.  It was so much fun he decided to continue making rave fashion and calling it “Cam Gogh”… because if you ask where it came from….  ?? You’d say: “I gotta Gogh”.
